Sandifer syndrome: the mis-interpretable disorder

Sandifer syndrome (SS), a movement disorder which is characterised by spasmodic torsional dystonia with back arching and rigid opisthotonic posturing, negatively impacting predominantly the neck, back, upper extremities. Symptomatic gastro-esophageal reflux disease, esophagitis, or presence of hiatal hernia are all associated syndrome. The cause being uncertain, lifestyle adjustments modifications highlights as appropriate mode treatment. To treat condition help relax baby after feeding, dietary changes medications can be administered. case report patient Syndrome considered for observation. Upon arrival, child was stable, an Electro-encephalogram (EEG) test revealed nothing abnormal. taking several Anti-epileptic drugs (AED’s), were stopped in favour Sodium valproate Pyridoxine. An opinion from Gastro-enterologist sought light epilepsy possible Gastro-esophageal disease (GERD), they suggested milk scan. Rantac then started, breastfeeds thickened. Milk indicate mild GERD reduction episode frequency. So, sodium discontinued. Haemodynamically stable discharged hospital Pyridoxine Carnisure. Studies shows most cases SS improve over time, within first 24 months general.
